Local AI

Local AI for a small business.

Gryndara Fortress OS is local AI that installs on one Windows PC. Six agents read the folders you choose and write finished files to an outbox. Documents, prompts, and answers stay on that PC.

What runs on the computer

  • Orchestrator, Research, Planner, Writer, Publisher, and Monitor. Quick Chat is the single-agent path.
  • The model is a Qwen 3 tier picked for the machine: Eco 1.7B, Lite 4B, Standard 8B, Pro 14B, or Coder 30B.
  • The engine is Ollama's plain Windows package, stored in Gryndara's folder. The Ollama desktop app is not installed.
  • PDF, Word, Excel, CSV, Markdown, and text are indexed where they sit, including scanned PDFs via local OCR.

What stays on the PC

The portal and the engine bind to 127.0.0.1. There is no LAN listener and no cloud inference. The only outbound connections are a license check-in, an optional signed-update check, and the one-time download of the engine and the model. The check-in carries ids, version, and health flags. It does not carry file names or file contents.

Files on disk are not encrypted by Gryndara. Use BitLocker if the disk needs that. The full list of controls and the gaps is on the security page.

Who it is for

  • A small team that shares one PC, or up to five PCs on a Team license, and needs the same folders.
  • Work whose result is a file: a payroll total, a contract summary, a procedure answer.
  • Documents that should not be pasted into ChatGPT, Copilot, or any other vendor's model.

It is the wrong tool when you need frontier reasoning on an open-ended problem, or when one person wants to try every model on a hub. Those cases are spelled out on Compare.

What the PC needs

Windows 10 or 11, 8 GB of RAM, and about 10 GB free for the app, the engine, and Eco. A dedicated GPU is required before Full swarm turns on. The tier table is on requirements. Install steps are the quickstart.

Questions

What is local AI for a small business?

It is an AI that runs on a computer the business controls. Gryndara Fortress OS installs on one Windows PC, reads folders you choose, and writes finished files to an outbox. Documents are not sent to a cloud model.

Does local AI work without a graphics card?

Yes. A Windows 10 or 11 PC with 8 GB of RAM can run Eco (Qwen 3 1.7B) and Quick Chat. Full swarm, the six-agent pipeline, stays off until the PC has a dedicated graphics card.

What leaves the PC?

A license check-in (license id, device id, version, and health flags — never file names or file contents), an optional signed-update check, and the one-time download of the engine and the model. Inference stays on 127.0.0.1.

How is this different from Ollama or a local chat app?

Ollama, Jan, and LM Studio are excellent ways for one person to talk to a model. Gryndara adds watch folders, six agents that produce a file, user roles, and signed updates. A developer wiring a model into their own code should use Ollama directly.
